Measuring Guide

For the purpose of our site each dress shown has it own measurements, and we advise that you use these measurements rather than the size numbers i.e. 10, 12, 14 etc. to help ensure an accurate fit.

Bridal dresses are undersized, so what would normal be as size 10 in a high street store is a size 12 in bridal. So please don't be put off.

These measurements are body measurements. The dresses have tolerance allowed on them which is approx 2"on the bust waist and hips but may vary according to designer and style. The amount of tolerance can be used if your body measurements are slightly over those shown, in some cases this can give you another half size. However, please remember the tighter the dress the less movement you are going to have.

The designer wedding dresses are designed to be altered. They can be both taken in or let out.

The length in a majority of cases is for someone who is 5' 6" tall. If a fuller underskirt is used this will lift the dress off the ground even more.
A 1" higher heel will often save shortening an inch.

Measuring Tips

Stand in front of a mirror, while measuring, make sure that the tape measure is straight and horizontal (level). To get an accurate measurement, the tape measure should be snug, but not pinching or tight. Stand straight but relaxed when you are being measured. You will get the best results if you are wearing just your underwear, making sure that the bra is in the correct position. It is better if somebody helps you and writes down the measurements as you proceed.

Step-By-Step Measuring guide

  • Step One: Measure your Waist
Find your natural waistline by bending to one side. While standing straight, measure around your waistline.
  • Step Two: Measure your Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your bust. If this measurement is between numbers, then it should be rounded, either up or down, to the nearest whole number.
  • Step Three: Measure your Hips
Your hips are located 8" below your waist.
